The Next Generation Sequencing and its Effect on the Rice Molecular Design Breeding

摘要
This review is about the principle of the next generation sequencing and the history, workflow, advantages and cost of the four sequencing platforms, Roche (454) GS FLX sequencer, Illumina genome analyzer (solexa), Applied Biosystems SOLiD sequencer, HeliScope Sequencer, developed on the principle of Sequencing by Synthesis or Ligation. It was discussed the effect of new technology on rice molecular design breeding. It is suggested that the whole genome sequencing of a series of rice core germplasm, development of functional molecular markers and specific microarrys will accelerate the application of the basic research results to the breeding and lays the foundation for molecular design breeding.
